Why would a man make this decision?

My ex and I are over....but we work in the same fitness center so we see each other every day. He has a new girlfriend but still tells me how much he misses me and we still do speak. Until he did something unimaginable to me. Really cruel and vindictive and I believe it was done to hurt me. He knows I'm hurt and now has tried to start speaking to me again. I don't even look in his direction. I drive he doesn't. Our center is closing and we are being moved to one far away not very easy transportation wise. They gave us a choice of centers and 3 of them are good for him transportation wise. He did something that made it clear to me he must hate me. Why would you stay at the center where you only know me and it's almost impossible for you to get to instead of going to one of the closer and nicer centers where we can end this charade completely and your closer to your new relationship? For me those other centers are impossible because you can't drive or trust me I would have gone. It was easier for me to stay and easier for you (much easier for you) to go.
