What items do you need before you get your new puppy?

You will need to buy a dog bed, plastic is probably best at this stage as puppy will possibly chew at it. You also need a sturdy water & food bowls. Toys are a must I would suggest hard rubber as again puppy will chew. A lead & collar with an ID tag on. A good quality puppy food, dry food is best, a packet of treats to help with training & some chew bones to keep puppy occupied. When housebreaking a puppy it is best to put down either newspaper or puppy training pads. Put them where you are happy for pup to do it's business. Don't put it too close to it'd bedding or feeding area. When they go on the paper give lots of praise, it they miss & go elsewhere never tell off or rub pup's nose in it. Just remove the puppy from the room & clean the mess with a biological detergent to remove the odor. When puppy urinates on the paper keep a little bit of that paper there so the smell remains & he/she knows they are allowed to go in the area. When puppy is going on the paper every time start to slowly move the paper toward the door so eventually you will put the paper outside & finally remove the paper altogether.He/she will then ask at the door to go out. Be patient it will take a while. Good luck x
